Suggestions For Finding A Church That Is Right For You

By Pastor Bruce D. Peterson Ó 2001

  1. PRAY

  2. Ask God to direct you. Every believer in Jesus Christ needs to belong to a specific church.

  3. LOOK

  4. What does that church believe? Do the beliefs match with the Bible? (See the section on "How to Recognize a Good Church".) You might want to get a statement of doctrine even before you visit. If a church is Biblical get to know it better and let the people there get to know you better. Then look at the practices and ministries of the church.

  5. DISCOVER

Find out what makes that particular church unique. See how its specific vision and ministry matches with to your own situation and need. Remember there is no such thing as a perfect church and you should not expect to find one "right way" for church to be done.

  4.   DISCERN

How is God leading you? As you continue to pray, test everything by the Bible. Get advice from mature Christians.

  1. COMMIT

Make the church God places you in, your home. See the "Questions To Ask When Evaluating If You Should Join A Church".
